In Celebration of Christmas 2020

Advent 2020Yesterday, we held our In Celebration of Christmas 2020 service.  With numbers limited and seats well-space, over 50 people attended our socially distanced, COVID secure service.

Although things were rather different this year!  Our 2020 COVID Christmas allowed for a peaceful service celebrating the nativity story with prayer, reflections on the story, song, and ribbon dance.  We were sadly not allowed to sing but this did not stop the congregation from participating in every way possible.  With clapping, humming, ribbon waving, dancing and even speaking the song to music we kept the Christmas spirit was alive and well.

Opening words for In Celebration of Christmas 2020, from Erica were Hay and Stardust By Pat Bennett.

This Christmas, Lord,
Take a corner of my life
And steal in – –
Invade the busyness of my doing
With the quiet of your coming.

This Christmas, Lord
Take a corner of my mind
And steal in – –
Illuminate the darkness of my thinking
With the brightness of your seeing.

This Christmas, Lord,
Take a corner of my heart
And steal in – –
Infuse the coldness of my loving
With the warmth of your Being.

This Christmas, Lord,
As at Bethlehem’s stable,
Come and steal in – –
Take the unprepared places of my life
And make them fit for your dwelling

May the joy of the angels, the eagerness of the shepherds, the perseverance of the wise men, the obedience of Joseph and Mary and the peace of the Christ-child be yours this Christmas; and the blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, be among you and remain with you always. Amen.

MERRY CHRISTMAS
