From the comfort of sofas, Caraway’s community came together for the latest Love Life & Laughter Holiday@Home.

Joining together last Thursday (17th February 2022) to receive hand delivered activity bags and participate in an afternoon Zoom social session.

Way back in November the Caraway team first met to discuss how we could bring a little joy into people’s lives in the dark month of February. We considered the idea of hosting Love Life & Laughter Holiday@Home.

Philippians 4:  Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. … And the God of peace will be with you. I rejoice greatly in the Lord that at last you have renewed your concern for me.

The Holiday@Home team felt it was important to continue providing somewhere our community of those that are older but still young at heart could enjoy some safe sociable engagement, meeting with friends in smaller groups to enjoy your gift bag contents and perhaps share the things that you love about life and that make you smile.

Preparations for our latest Holiday @ Home, Love Life & Laughter, began in earnest on Wednesday 16th February when a host of volunteers gathered to collate the contents for the 216 gift bags.  Making sure they were ready for delivery on Thursday 17th Feb.

Each bag contained the usual:
  • a range of themed articles, memories, jokes to make people smile
  • a quiz and wordsearch
  • the ever-popular afternoon tea with scones, cakes, tiffin & biscuits

Exclusive to this Holiday@Home Love Life & Laughter themed bag activity highlights included a clown making kit and mustard seeds to grow.

Last Thursday saw 13 volunteers driving all over the city.  Delivering over 200 gift bags to  people in their own home, Care Homes and groups gathering for the occasion.

That afternoon included a Zoom meeting, for those with internet access, where they enjoyed some time to chat, a little light exercise, some singing and played some bingo.

Thank you to all our volunteers for your continued support.

“I would like to thank everybody who organised and worked for our entertainment  on Thursday. I was not in Southampton but joined you for yoga and music and enjoyed it. My bag (great!!) arrived yesterday, surprising, funny  and… delicious. I am very grateful: thank you very much.”

Another successful event only made possible due to the generous actions of many volunteers.  We are unable to hold events like this without their help, baking, creating, collating and delivering.

Information on upcoming events can be found on our “Whats On” tab.  Look out for updates on our Easter and the Queens Platinum Jubilee.
