During a music session at St Denys Memory Café one of the attendees Steve asked if he could play one of his songs. This was readily agreed and Steve entertained us with a song. He has a beautiful mellifluous voice and it was a very special moment. Here are the lyrics for you to enjoy:

LIFE IS FOR LIVING

by Steve Daniels

If you’re old and in your home and feeling all alone
Because the ones that you knew don’t see you any more
It’s time to put your coat on and meet the world again
Try and live your life again the best way that you can

I walked down a road, I heard sweet birds sing
There were flowers everywhere, saw a butterfly
The warmth it grew inside my soul, I began to smile
I was living once again in a pleasant land

Do the things you once enjoyed, even if you’re worse
You will meet good people there, and you can talk again
Like the ones that are kind and the ones that care
But stay away from people that just care about themselves

I met a religious man who believes in God
He’s grown much stronger now and he is happier

Don’t sit too long upon your chair, dwelling about the past
Today can be a good one, better than the past

But when you’re old your body goes wrong, but do the best you can
Do the things you most enjoy, don’t invite loneliness

If you’re old and in your home and feeling all alone
It’s time to put your coat on and meet the church again
Try and live your life again the best way that you can
This life it is for living and not for solitude
