A fantastic Holiday – right on your doorstep!
Each Summer we create a ‘Holiday at Home’ experience in venues across Southampton for older people to enjoy the highlights of a trip away!
Delicious food, Fabulous sights, Dancing, Music, Traditional games, crafts and activities – all the best bits of a holiday under one roof!
Our creative teams transform the venues into exotic locations. In recent years we have:
taken in the delights of Paris, cruised through Greece, travelled the railroad through the Scottish Highlands and explored an African Safari! For Summer 2024 we enjoyed everything Spain could offer from seated Flamenco dancing to Tapas, to the local school children providing some music.
Last year we said ‘Ciao’ to Italy with its historic architecture, beautiful mediterranean coastline and soaring mountain regions.
This year we will be enjoying all things Ireland can offer.

These events bring the generations together, and provide a great opportunity for the community to work together.
Ice-Cream Parlours, Schools, Care Homes, Supermarkets, the Saints Foundation, Music Groups, Reptile Societies and many others have joined us to make this venture so diverse and successful.
If you are involved with an organisation you think could contribute – please chat to us – we’d love to hear about it!
Through training and resourcing, Caraway hopes to encourage further churches to provide ‘Holiday at Home’ events for their local communities.

As always it’s difficult to give my favourite part of the day…. Food which someone else has prepared, Music from little children and the Seated Dancing are my top three I think. Just being with other people. An excellent day!!
