A Memorable Afternoon of History and Reminiscence
Guests at one of our Memory Cafés recently enjoyed a lively and engaging afternoon with Andy Skinner, whose enthusiasm and knowledge were warmly received by everyone attending. Andy spoke to the group as a whole, creating an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere throughout the session.
Using a range of fascinating prompts and artefacts, Andy talked vividly about the Second World War and it’s impact on the City of Southampton. His talk sparked plenty of conversation, with many guests sharing their own memories of the war years and the effect it had on them, their families and their neighbourhoods.
The session included wartime memorabilia to explore which added an extra layer of enjoyment and interaction. Guests asked thoughtful questions and engaged enthusiastically, clearly delighted by the opportunity to connect personal memories with shared history.
Andy’s visit prompted many fond recollections and conversations, making it an enjoyable afternoon for everyone involved.
