The Gift of Christmas is a gift for the Southampton community, created by the Caraway Memory Cafe attendees of Maybush and Lordshill as part of our Community Exhibition Takeover.

Participants came together to share what Christmas means to them; their favourite memories, cherished traditions and special moments that bring joy each year. Stories filled with childhood wonder, the smells of festive dinners and the joy of watching children and grandchildren open stockings at the break of dawn.

Each person then designed and created a quit square inspired by their story, capturing every sight, smell and sound that makes Christmas special.

These Christmnas quilts are made with memories, new and old and lovingly created to bring warmth, smiles and a little Christmas magic to everyone who sees them.

Led by artists and producers, Hannah Jones and Maddie Risbridger, this project is an extension of their project, The Fabric of Winchester, now expanding to The Fabric of Britain, with the vision to weave the stories of communities, towns and cities together through the creation of vibrant memory quilts.
