Christmas 2022 Round-up

Christmas 2022 has presented a fun packed, busy December. With so much going on, Christmas seems to have started early this year with our first Christmas Event way back on the last weekend of November…

Christmas Tree Festival @ St James Road Methodist Church

Caraway participated in this wonderful local charity event, by decorating a Christmas Tree celebrating our memory cafes. With handmade decorations celebrating the volunteers and café community by theming the decorations with their photos and memories.

The Christmas Tree & Music Festival came early on the lats weekend of November. With Live Music, Father Christmas, Raffle and Crafts raising funds in aid of CONNECT and local Schools. Thank you for having us, we will see you again next year.

Christmas 2022 Memory Café Parties

Au revoir at Thornhill Memory Café

We were incredibly sad to say farewell to our lovely Admiral Nurse Karyn Gamble who has retired. Good luck and all the best for the future Karyn. The Café will continue in the New Year under the supervision of Beth and Sarah, with Caraway’s volunteer Jenny G supporting them whenever possible.

Bitterne Christmas Party @ Ascension Church…

…from 2.30-4.30pm on Wednesday 14th December. Katherine Barbour & Louise Diamond hosted the Bitterne Park Christmas Party. The festivities opened with delicious festive treats and live entertainment from Pete Atkins and John Palmer. Bittern Park Memory Café resumes on Wednesday the 11th of January. Lordshill Carol Service @ Coffee, Cake & Connect…

…celebrated Christmas 2022 with carol service on Thursday 15th December with thirty attending. Pastor Julia from Victory Gospel Church also attended this lovely celebration and blessed us by giving a short Christmas message. Coffee and mince pies were enjoyed by all. At this week’s Dementia Friendly Café (Thursday 22nd December) we will be participating in lots of Christmas craft activities. Coffee, Cake & Connect will be closed next week (Thursday 29th December) and will re-start on Thursday 5th January at 1.30 at Lordshill Church.

Shirley Christmas Party @ Make & Brew CaféS, St James Road Methodist Church.

Monday 19th December saw the lovely Shirley Memory Café team host their Memory Café Christmas Party with Christmas crafts and Carol Singing. It was even busier than usual with. This Memory Café goes from strength to strength and will be back in 2023 on the Monday 16th January.

Highfield Memory Café

Highfield Christmas Party Highfield Church Centre enjoyed their Christmas Party on 20th December with a festive gathering. There was live music, from Jim Chorley, and dancing. An abundance of joyful sweet & savoury treats and even some mulled wine.

For anyone wanting something more in the lead up to the big day, do not forget about our Christmas Outing to Haskins. This is a relaxed group outing to Haskins Garden Centre on Thursday 15th December from 2pm to 4pm.
Providing the opportunity for people from any memory café in the city to come together, have a browse round the shop and to meet in the café between 2 and 4 to have a chat and a cup of tea together.
