Ageing Well Fayre Brings Community Together

Our Ageing Well Fayre took place at Avenue St Andrews Community Hall on Saturday 9th May — bringing together older people from across the community for an afternoon filled with encouragement, connection, and practical inspiration for living well in later life.

Around 70 people attended and enjoyed a wide variety of activities and stalls, including: Tai Chi demonstrations, Flower Arranging, Pampering Products, a Plant Sale, and a Tombola. Southampton Unpaid Carers were also on hand to offer advice and support, while we were delighted to welcome Professor Teeling from the University of Southampton who shared insights into the latest research on ageing well.

The Lord Mayor of Southampton, James Baillie, kindly attended the event and spent time meeting guests and exhibitors throughout the afternoon.

Entertainment was provided by local ukulele band Uke Box Glory, and guests enjoyed tea and cake served by Communibake.

It was a joyful occasion full of laughter, conversation, learning, and community spirit — a wonderful reminder that ageing well is about staying connected, active, and valued.
