Holiday at Home Highfield.

On 2 hot June days in Southampton, about 60 people went on safari to Africa, for a holiday at home together.

The event was very exciting with the church decorated like a safari camp, complete with friezes and a safari truck! There were snakes and reptiles from Southampton Reptile Centre, children from a local school, and many volunteers and participants.

The programme was relaxed, african style, and on both days authentic and delicious african food was served, Ghanaian on Thursday and Nigerian on Friday.

There was african dancing and singing, craft activities, and talks about Burundi and Kenya. We are grateful for all the support and generous help we had to create this well earned holiday for our more frail and stuck at home older folk in our area.

” I couldn’t believe the atmosphere of fun and joy, and the sharing nature of the day. What a lovely event to have run, Thank you. ” said a participant.

Come again next year!  SAVE THE DATE.

Wednesday June 17 Th June and Thursday 18th June 2020
